Know your numbers beyond the scale! Introducing InBody Body Composition Analysis!

Last month we brought in  our newest piece of equipment: the InBody Body Composition Analyzer. If you want to get a true picture of your progress in the gym and your overall health, body composition analysis is the way to go. The number on the scale may not be telling you the whole story. If your goals are improving your health, reducing body fat, increasing muscle, and losing overall weight, we recommend scheduling a scan. The device we purchased is medical-grade and is extremely accurate. It uses bio electrical impedance to send  electrical impulses through the body using contacts on the hands and feet. The data it provides:

  • Total weight broken down into water, dry mass (muscle, skeleton & organs), fat mass
  • Body fat percentage
  • Basal Metabolic Rate (the amount of calories your body burns in a 24 hour period at rest)
  • Muscle-Fat Analysis – total weight, skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass
  • Obesity Analysis – BMI and Body Fat Percentage
  • Segmental Lean Analysis – break down of lean mass distributed through the left/right arm, left/right leg, trunk. Compares muscle mass to the ideal for the height and gender
  • Body Composition History – tracks progress from scan to scan. You will be able to see progress for weight, skeletal muscle mass, and body fat percentage
  • Body Fat/Lean Body Mass Control – the report recommends if the you needs to increase or decrease lean muscle mass or fat mass

Cost for the scan is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. If you are interested in getting a scan, let us know and we’ll get you scheduled. The test is super quick, but we want to go over the results with you and make sure you have the information you need to take action on your goals!

February Updates for Woodland – Specials, Schedule and More

February is here! Celebrate loving yourself this month by focusing on your fitness, getting stronger, and thanking your body for all it can do! 2024 is off to a great start and we have some great updates this month to keep you focused on your health goals.

Class Updates:

Keep your fitness game strong this year with our full class schedule. Classes are a great way to get motivated, meet people, and have fun while you exercise.

We’re happy to introduce a couple of new classes this month!

  • Back to Basics – Wednesday mornings at 10:15am – 11:00am with Sabrina!
    Introducing a mid-morning class perfect for late risers and school drop off schedules. Energize your body and get back to basics with this throwback step, strength & stretch workout. Build stamina, strength, and flexibility! This class is suitable for seniors and beginners as well as seasoned gym members. 
  • Total Body Tune-Up – Tuesday Evenings at 5:15pm – 5:55 with Marilyn!
    Intro to Lift has morphed into Total Body Tune-Up! Learn proper lifting form while tuning up and toning up your body. This class focuses on basic weightlifting moves combined with cardio, core, and flexibility work to help build muscle, burn fat, rev up your metabolism and build endurance and confidence in the gym. 

We have a few adjustments to the class schedule due to instructor vacations:

  • Dance Fusion will have limited classes this month due to Cristal’s Schedule:

Happy New Year from the whole team at SL8!

Achieve More in 2024 – What does that mean to you?

We tend to think that more is better, but sometime more is just more! In this new year, make more time for yourself. Be more present and more intentional. Be more thoughtful about the things that are important to you. Be more consistent with the habits that make you feel more grounded. Focusing on the things that really matter can help you differentiate between “more” and “extra.” We hope your time at SL8 is part of that equation!

Whatever your health and fitness goals are, we are here to support you! 

Are you looking to brush up on your healthy habits? We’ve got you covered. Here’s a way to incorporate “more” into your daily habits:

  • Drink more water! You should be shooting for a minimum of 64 ounces of water daily, and we recommend starting your day off with 2 cups of water, right when you wake up! This replenishes hydration lost over night through perspiration and expiration and helps to stimulate your digestive system upon waking.
  • Eat more veggies! You should be targeting 5-7 servings of colorful fruits and vegetables daily to get a wide variety of nutrients in your life.
  • Try more classes! Whether you are new to fitness or just looking to switch things up, taking a variety of classes can make things more fun and challenge your body in new ways!

Here we go again…

SL8 is temporarily closed to the public due to the order by the Governor and Yolo County. If you are a member, we want to make sure your health needs are being met. Please contact us through messaging. Stay tuned to our Instagram or Facebook for updates on the closure. Most importantly, stay focused, stay strong, stay moving, and stay healthy.

New Guidelines for Reopening

Our doors will finally open again on Monday, June 15. We appreciate your patience while we were closed, and we’re looking forward to getting you all back on track with your goals. There’s a few guidelines we wanted to share that will be in effect:

Guidelines for Members

  1. You must follow the guidelines provided by SL8, the State and Yolo County.
  2. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, please do not enter the studio:
    • Fever
    • Loss of taste or smell
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Chills
    • Muscle Pain
    • Sore Throat
  3. Our capacity may be limited at times to ensure social distancing. You must check in with a SL8 Staff Member when you arrive so we can monitor our capacity.
  4. Please enter through the front of the building. The back door will be for exit only to control the flow of traffic.
  5. Please wear a face mask when entering the building and keep it with you when exercising. Wearing a face mask while exercising is optional as long as physical distancing is maintained.
  6. Please sanitize your hands upon arrival using the provided hand sanitizer. Please wash your hands before leaving.
  7. All members must sign a new waiver form related to the coronavirus.
  8. Please practice social distancing at all times.
  9. Please wipe down equipment before and after use with the provided disinfectant and sanitizing sprays.
  10. We encourage you to bring your own towels, but our towel service will remain in effect.
  11. Please bring any concerns to the attention of SL8 management.
  12. These guidelines are subject to change, so please pay attention to all signage.

New Hours

With new requirements for sanitation, we are making a few changes to our hours. We will be open:

Monday through Thursday: 6 am – 9 pm

Friday: 6 am – 8 pm

Saturday: 7 am – 5 pm

Tentative Re-Opening Date: June 15

When we posted that we would be closed for a week back on March 15, we had no way to know that we would be closed for the next few months due to COVID-19 and the State’s stay at home guidelines.

A few months have passed and we’re hopeful that we will reopen in the next few weeks. We’re excited to get everyone back to their goals, back to moving and eating well! Fitness and nutrition are absolutely critical to healthy lifestyles and boosting your immunity!

There’s a few changes to update you on:

  • Our hours are slightly modified and may be subject to change as we navigate the reopening and receive guidelines from Yolo County and the State. We’ll be closing an hour earlier each night — 9 on Monday through Thursday, 8 on Fridays, and 5 on Saturdays.
  • Marilyn is now available for personal training! During our little hiatus, she put her love of fitness into getting certified as a personal trainer.
  • We will have some additional guidelines for sanitizing and other health measures for you. Please pay attention to all posted signs in the gym.
  • We’ll have you all start checking in with your key cards when you enter the gym so we can monitor the gym capacity. If you haven’t received a key card, check in with Marilyn or Tyler and we’ll hook you up!

Thank you for your patience while we navigate the future together. We know you are all ready to get back to your routines and to get back on track in the gym.

Dear Members,
In light of recent developments regarding COVID-19, we have decided to close SL8 for the week. This was not an easy decision for us. You may have noticed that we have increased our cleaning activities, and provided additional hand sanitizers and spray bottles throughout the club.

With recent guidelines and recommendations from the State regarding social distancing, we felt it was in the best interest of the community to close temporarily to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to seeing you back at SL8 soon. Thank you for your understanding.

SL8 Fitness and Nutrition Opens January 13

Greetings,

SL8 Fitness and Nutrition will be opening our doors to the Esparto community and Capay Valley Region on January 13.

Building on the foundation left by Fitness Forever, SL8 will be expanding our offerings to help you fuel your health and wellness goals, kicking off 2020 in style.
